the first of what will undoubtedly be numerous newbie-level questions about UML, since i've been perusing the wealth of online docs for UML and, with few exceptions, all of it is either out of date, incomplete, wrong or suffering from broken links.
my goal is to document how to start from scratch and get UML up and running on fedora 8 (and subsequently, fedora 9). so, where to begin? first, what's the difference between specifying the root filesystem at invocation time with "ubd0" versus "ubda"? here: http://user-mode-linux.sourceforge.net/ the explanation uses "ubda", while here: http://uml.nagafix.co.uk/ "ubd0" is used, as well as adding "root=/dev/ubda" even further down the page. there's no explanation as to what these differences mean, yet they all seem to work identically. help? rday -- ======================================================================== Robert P.
