Well, I'd say that when you apply a patch to a working UML and it
breaks, the patch is broken somehow.  But, since a number of real UML
bugs have resulted in this behavior, it might be worth looking into a
little.

So, can you strace it when it is hanging, and attach gdb to it and get
a backtrace?
