Yes, I forgot to mention that I had done a "chroot /mnt/guestfs" before
I ran the mknod. I created a ubd0 also, though I have not tried changing
fstab to try ubd0 yet.

Thanks, I will check into this.
 
Unfortunately the server's being shipped to a Co-lo right now, so it 
will be a few days before I can try it. Since I'm doing stuff to it that
can be done remotely, I figured I could start it shipping. (Deadlines 
are fun. :-)
