You can modify "ps" to read UML's /proc files via the "proc" uml_mconsole 
command. A prototype would start the uml_mconsole client, a complete 
implementation would likely link directly to the code (issuing a uml_mconsole 
command is very easy). Download the uml_utilities source, everything is 
contained in mconsole/uml_mconsole.c.
