Okay, I tell a lie - it doesn't write continuously when it has fully locked - I just ran the copy operation again and it locked up, but it's not writing anything to disk. I can ping the UML, and I can also telnet to it and connect, however nothing appears, e.g. $ telnet uml 22 Trying 192.168.173.16... Connected to uml (192.168.173.16). Escape character is '^]'. And that's it - usually I should get an SSH banner as soon as I connect, but not once it has locked up.
