I'm running 2.6.12-10-386 as my host. Is
that SKAS-patchable?
Those version number have no absolute meaning, they're assigned by
distros. I
guess it's the Ubuntu kernel (as I have a Ubuntu system).
Probably 2.6.12 (or maybe 2.6.13) SKAS patch from my homepage
applies and
compiles to it - in which case it would also likely run. But it's
hard to
tell without looking at the kernel (and I won't do it for free), and I
wouldn't test with a colocated server.
First try to diagnose the errors from prebuilt kernels. The other
two ones are
complaining because you built them enabling only SKAS3 mode for a non
SKAS-patched host (i.e. wrong configuration you did), so the fact
they don't
work is meaningless. For 2.6.14-bs3, show what's going on.
It is indeed the Ubuntu kernel.
I'm going to have my colo provider install the patched kernel for me.
It's not a managed service, but they do offer paid support.
In the meantime, here is the output from 2.6.14-bs3:
Checking PROT_EXEC mmap in /tmp...OK
UML running in TT mode
tracing thread pid = 7179
OP_FORK failed to attach pid
That's all it says. It doesn't die after that, but I can't do
anything with it.
