We're have the NFS locking problem with Redhat (RHEL4). It's apparently
fixed in the next release of the kernel (I hope). But until then we invoke
UML via a script which copies the COW file to a unique directory in /tmp
and the copies it back to the users home directory--which is nfs
mounted--when the user shuts down the virtual machine. We use star
(instead of cp or tar) to do the copying because it seems to do a good job
of handling sparse files.
