Hello, I have tested the following kernels :
2.6.12.3 2.6.12.6 2.6.13.4 and I get the same problems : a kernel panic, this is my output : Serial line 0 assigned device '/dev/ptyp1' Kernel panic - not syncing: Segfault with no mm EIP: 0023:[<a004e968>] CPU: 0 Not tainted ESP: 002b:a0367a74 EFLAGS: 00010292 Not tainted EAX: 00000000 EBX: a3ecc000 ECX: a09956e0 EDX: a093a340 ESI: a0800660 EDI: 00000000 EBP: a080066c DS: 002b ES: 002b a03675c8: [<a00374c2>] notifier_call_chain+0x1e/0x38 a03675e8: [<a0028f79>] panic+0x55/0x104 a03675f8: [<a0011d43>] change_sig+0x4b/0x60 a0367608: [<a0013a29>] segv+0x1b5/0x244 a0367620: [<a004611f>] __do_IRQ+0x47/0xcc a0367668: [<a0011d99>] change_signals+0x41/0x6c a03676e8: [<a0013d5d>] segv_handler+0xc1/0xcc a03676f8: [<a004e968>] free_block+0x3c/0xc8 a0367708: [<a0011dde>] unblock_signals+0xa/0x10 a0367718: [<a0016a62>] sig_handler_common_tt+0xb6/0x130 a0367728: [<a0016aa9>] sig_handler_common_tt+0xfd/0x130 a0367778: [<a0021b98>] sig_handler+0x14/0x18 a0367798: [<a01ae838>] __restore+0x0/0x8 a03677d8: [<a004e968>] free_block+0x3c/0xc8 a0367900: [<a01aeb2b>] sigemptyset+0x1b/0x38 a0367920: [<a0011d43>] change_sig+0x4b/0x60 a0367940: [<a01aeb2b>] sigemptyset+0x1b/0x38 a0367960: [<a01aeb2b>] sigemptyset+0x1b/0x38 a0367980: [<a01aeb2b>] sigemptyset+0x1b/0x38 a03679a0: [<a0011edc>] set_signals+0x6c/0x10c a0367a00: [<a01aeb2b>] sigemptyset+0x1b/0x38 a0367a20: [<a0011d99>] change_signals+0x41/0x6c a0367a50: [<a000f7e4>] __virt_to_page+0xc/0x1c a0367a70: [<a004e960>] free_block+0x34/0xc8 a0367aa0: [<a004eea3>] drain_array_locked+0x63/0x88 a0367ad0: [<a004ef3d>] cache_reap+0x75/0x14c a0367b00: [<a003ab69>] worker_thread+0x1f9/0x2a4 a0367b10: [<a003aaf2>] worker_thread+0x182/0x2a4 a0367b28: [<a004eec8>] cache_reap+0x0/0x14c a0367b6c: [<a0026024>] default_wake_function+0x0/0x14 a0367b8c: [<a0026024>] default_wake_function+0x0/0x14 a0367ba8: [<a003a970>] worker_thread+0x0/0x2a4 a0367bb8: [<a003a970>] worker_thread+0x0/0x2a4 a0367bc0: [<a003e532>] kthread+0xbe/0xc8 a0367bc8: [<a003a970>] worker_thread+0x0/0x2a4 a0367bd0: [<a003e4f9>] kthread+0x85/0xc8 a0367bf4: [<a003e474>] kthread+0x0/0xc8 a0367c00: [<a0010039>] run_kernel_thread+0x45/0x4c a0367c10: [<a0011d99>] change_signals+0x41/0x6c a0367c18: [<a003e474>] kthread+0x0/0xc8 a0367c28: [<a0010014>] run_kernel_thread+0x20/0x4c a0367cb0: [<a0011dde>] unblock_signals+0xa/0x10 a0367cc4: [<a003e474>] kthread+0x0/0xc8 a0367cd0: [<a00153b8>] new_thread_handler+0x140/0x17c a0367cd4: [<a003e474>] kthread+0x0/0xc8 a0367d20: [<a01ae838>] __restore+0x0/0x8 a0367d60: [<a01aea61>] sigprocmask+0x1d/0x4c I got this after upgrading my system to Debian unstable. I disabled tls by moving it to tls.bak, but this does not help. I also removed the anticipatory scheduler and the QIC (or whatever scheduler), because I got kernel panics earlier in the cycle. I also removed SKAS, because this gave me also kernel panics. Are there other things that I can do to recompile my kernel and get a stable system again ?
