That's out of discussion. For that, just take a root_fs made out of a new 
distro. Most distro don't offer support for such long period (especially, not 
Fedora).

ubd0 is more widespread, but ubda makes more sense, supports partitions and is 
the one used by kernel messages.

Also, the point which bites users very frequently (now that DevFS has 
disappeared) is the use of DevFS device names... which is totally wrong from 
the very beginning (running devfsd and using standard names would have been a 
better solution).
