Hi,

I'm taking a look at UML for the first time and I'm wondering about a few
things. Would be great to hear some experiences.

- SKAS / TT
Is SKAS really worth the trouble? I mean is the performance better? Or are
there other issues why one should use SKAS Mode?

- Opteron Support
I shall setup several services on a Dual Opteron 250. I came across some issues
with Opterons and I wonder if Opterons are ok for UML? Are they stable? Or ist
this a problem with 64 Bit Mode only and UML works fine on Opterons in 32 Bit
Mode?

- Dual Core
Does someone have experiences with Dual Core Opterons? Regarding stability,
performance?

- Hard Drives
The server I shall setup does have only one harddrive, but it shall be switched
to some kind of raid. What would you prefer? 8 x SATA in 4+4 Raid 10 Mode oder
8 10kprm SCSI in 7+1 Raid 5 Mode? Are there issues with raid controllers? How
about 3Ware and Areca?

- Memory Support
The server has 12 GB of RAM - will that be addressed by UML? Or is there some
kind of limit? Are there performance penalties with > 4 GB larger than usual?

- Development, Roadmap
As I've seen there are three main maintainers for UML at the moment? Will UML
be kept alive and run although Xen is coming up? Sorry, but I don't want to
setup a system that will be halted in some time in the future?

Sorry for all these questions, I found a lot in the archive, but nothing of it
was clear enough for me - every piece just threw up some more questions and the
UML sites are a bit outdated, at best :-)

Regards,
Eric
