Good opinion,rename /lib/tls to something else and you should be running. 
Search for this in the archives to find some other tricks (LD_ASSUME_KERNEL 
and so on): this one will break on reinstalling/updating glibc, obviously 
(ah, you say you just updated glibc, in fact).
