No, I am afraid that is not the case. xterm is installed in the host and works as expected: I can type "xterm" anytime and I get a working xterm. In fact, when I start a UML virtual machine, the xterm consoles work normally. The only problem noticed is the zombie process left after halting the virtual machine. xterm is not installed in the guest rootfilesystem, but I understand that is not needed. In fact, this rootfilesystem has been working with kernels <=2.6.5. I am at present testing on a standard Fedora Core 3 system, but I think it is not a problem related to the distribution, as Fermín has a different one (Debian I think) and has exactly the same problem. Maybe the problem is specific to the way UML virtual machines are started by VNUML tool. Or specific to the guest kernel config or rootfilesystems we use (?). I will try to reproduce the problem using other rootfilesystems/kernel config, in order to compare them and find the difference that raises the problem. If you have any recomendation about a specific kernel config and rootfilesystem you know that works, I would appreciate a reference. Best regards, David > I look forward for an answer on this point.
