Hello Tom, I did some testing and actually can confirm that full-text search on PDFs doesn't work, not even when modifying the indexing configuration, as suggested at https://jira.magnolia-cms.com/browse/MGNLDAM-667. It's odd anyway, as the full text indexing should happen out of the box by using jackrabbit's default tika-config.xml which is correctly read at system startup.
Furthermore, I found an old post on the forum where the feature did seem to work and the fix was only a matter of specifying the correct node type in the query https://forums.magnolia-cms.com/forum/thread.html?threadId=29180454-714e-4493-8783-245b193fd811 Have you noticed if this used to work for you in previous Magnolia versions?
