Make sure you look into the correct log file. Login and logout actions are 
logged into magnolia-access.log, not into magnolia-audit.log by default. Try 
enabling audit for the "activate" action since it is logged into 
magnolia-audit.log. Publish something and see if you get a line in the file.

Entries in the file are typically one-liners. They are so small that the file 
size barely grows. You might see "zero bytes" in your Windows file explorer or 
Mac Finder although events are actually logged. So open the file to be sure.

Auditing should work with minimal configuration. The log4j.xml already has the 
relevant section enabled. You just need to decide which actions to audit.
