Do you want just public instance or both? If you want both, you need to deploy your war file twice to have two separate webapps in your application server. By default, one deployed under context magnoliaAuthor is author instance and one deployed under context magnoliaPublic will be bootstrapped as public instance. If you have changed configuration then the names might be different and matching whatever you set in the configuration, but you still need to deploy war file twice to get two instances.
