Hello Simon, try http://localhost:8080/demo-project/about~mgnlArea=extras,extras1~ (~mgnlArea=pathToTheAreaSeparatedByCommas~) I'd would also point out that the correct structure should be /page/component1/area1/component2/area2 rather than nested areas.
