The Big Diabetes Lie

Their work was published in July of 2016 in the Journal of Clinical
Endocrinological Metabolism. The researchers compared 12 people diagnosed with
Type 2 diabetes with 12 healthy non diabetics. When the molecules found to
inhibit arginase were given to the participants with Type 2 diabetes, it was
found the small vessels were able to expand normally. Their level of expansion
went up to the same level as was seen in the non diabetic participants. The
increase in widening of the vessels was probably because arginase was unable to
break down arginine, keeping the arginine supply high enough to make nitric
acid. The increased level of nitric acid then opened up the blood vessels. At
some point, it might be possible to treat heart and blood vessel problems in
people diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes with an arginase inhibitor.

When the small blood vessels are unable to accommodate efficient blood flow,
the vessels can leak. Inadequate blood circulation can result in oxygen and
nutrient starvation in your skin, limbs, eyes, and kidneys. Treatment with the
arginase inhibitor is a long way from clinical practice, but keeping Type 2
diabetes under control is helpful right now.

Ideally, HbA1c levels should fall below 7 percent or at the goal level
prescribed for you. The HbA1c level is the principal gauge of your blood sugar
control. Reducing your HbA1c by 1 percent lowers your risk of small vessel
disease by 37 percent. This, in turn, will reduce your risk of peripheral
vascular disease by 43 per cent...

keeping the small blood vessels in your eyes healthy and functioning
efficiently, can help to prevent diabetic eye disease.
your kidneys are full of small blood vessels which, when carrying adequate
supplies of blood, allows your kidneys to maintain the blood molecules in
proper balance.
A healthy diet together with physical activity are good for the Type 2
diabetic's whole body.

Although managing your disease can be very challenging, Type 2 diabetes is not
a condition you must just live with. You can make simple changes to your daily
routine and lower both your weight and your blood sugar levels. Hang in there,
the longer you do it, the easier it gets.
