I think the reason it does not work is because the underlying [url=https://vaadin.com/api/7.6.6/com/vaadin/data/validator/RegexpValidator.html]RegexpValidator[/url] class expects a String. So if you want to use the validator as-is then you need to leave it String. Just convert it from String to Long when you need to.
