Absolutely, this is how many people use Magnolia.
For a quick start check out this tutorial, and apply the principles to your own 
website - creating templates & dialogs for parts of the website that should be 
content manage-able. 
There is no automatic migration, but once you have the templates working in 
Magnolia, you can bring your content into them.
