Solved. The (simple) answer was only to replace the "class" property under /server/auditLogging node. That's because
1) It is not possible to have an observed Component with <type> and <implementation> 2) An observed component, defined with only a <type> tag, is generated via Node2Bean from JCR Sorry for this obvious question, we simply started (hurry-up approach) to override component config in our module.
