Hi again, for your info, I solved the problem. Root cause was the misconfigured port in [b]server.activation.subscribers.magnoliaPublic.URL[/b] of the author instance. Although the public instance is accessible with port 80 due to Apache port forwarding, I had to set the real application server port (8280).
Nevertheless the behavior of Magnolia is very misleading here. The message "Publication successful" and the instantiation Exception were not helpful at all. Instead Magnolia should give an connection error.
