Hi Dan, You are probably affected by bug http://quality.livecode.com/show_bug.cgi?id=18416, which is currently marked as NOT_FIXABLE. This happens only on OSX 10.9.x.
As a workaround, you can either copy the DbSqlite file from 8.1.0 RC2 (see details in the bug report), or upgrade your OSX version to at least OSX 10.10 (this is a free upgrade).
