In a quick test on Mac, you can still trap the rawKeyDown in the player control 
and respond to the result so…

on rawKeyDown pKey

if pKey = "65363" then go next card

if pKey = "65361" then go prev card

pass rawKeyDown

end rawKeyDown


…Should work.
