I can tell you #1 way to protect your site, is to change the wp-admin to something else. it cut our attacks by 99%.
I plan on going over WP for the second webinar on WP REST API. Richard is correct, WP is only as good as your setup. But WP with the LiveCode WP REST API is a great solution.
