I should certainly hope not. listserves and boards are fundamentally different in how people interact. Moving lists to web generally causes *massive* loss of membership and participation.
In a professional organization I belong to, it resulted in an independent mailing list, and would likely have caused turnover of the board at the next election, except the responsible leadership backed down in the face of the revolt and restored our listserv. -- Dr. Richard E.
