This might be useful.. http://lifehacker.com/5697360/how-to-verify-if-an-email-address-is-real-or-fake The synopsis is.. 1. nslookup to find the mx servers 2. open a port to one of the servers for the address in question and interact with it to find out if the account exists. Based on the article, this lets you find out if the account exists or not, even if there is a "catchall" email address.
