Just a guess, but you might check the running processes after quitting.
It's possible that it's not actually quitting all processes and there's
something running behind the scenes. I had a similar problem with
earlier 7.x incarnations of the installer on linux and had to go in and
kill the processes manually in order to get things working properly.
