Wikipedia is one of the places that seemed wrong. It could just be that it was 
packaged that way in the US, elsewhere the system release didn’t really have a 
number as such, because System and Finder were always different, until 6.0 was 
released.

The main thing is that there wasn’t a System 5.0, even if in some places 4.2 
and 4.3 were labeled as System Software Release 5.x.
