(although only revXMLCreateTree is mentioned in the doc)
while only revCreateXMLTree works on LC server...

Are you using version 6.5.2 of the server as well?
On what platform?
I just got back into town and checked the Makefile.
Both the desktop and server engines are built with the same xml library,
so there should be no difference.
If you're using an older version of the server, though, it probably will
only accept the older incantations.
