modTableField is at its core just two fields that are used for display. All data lives in these two fields. It is not as powerful as the dataGrid which I think is an ingenious piece of code. modTableField can be easier because of its simpler structure and might suffice in some situations where you don't need all the options of the dataGrid-table. On the other hand it is of course more limited.
