Okay try this:

   put "tell application Finder" & cr into theCommand
   put "set visible of process Finder to false" & cr after theCommand
   put "end tell" after theCommand
   replace "Finder" with quote & "Finder" & quote in theCommand
   do theCommand as appleScript

Put this as the last thing that runs after your kiosk app launches.
