It used to be that when you set the vis of a modal window to false, it
would operate as a non-modal. You could try that, though I don't know if
it still works that way. I suspect it was a bug and it may have been
fixed long ago.

modal dialogs, at least not in the stack I'm testing right now. I can tell
that the script is executing, just not producing the right results. I
usually try to debug in some other stack mode but not possible in this case.
