yes of course, but that's not the point : there are thousands of links that have already been visited by googlebots and on the site upgrade that is about to be put online, all these links will be changed from mydomain.com/foo.php?someName_someCode to mydomain.com/?foo_someName_someCode and we need to configure .htaccess with a permanent 301 redirect so that all links already visited by bots don"t get lost...
