If, like me, you are dependent for a variety of reasons on VMware on Ubuntu (or derivatives) or Mint Linux you have probably got fairly stroppy when VMware Player (or fancier) gets all 'funny' every time there is
a kernel update (about every 2-3 days at the moment).

Anyway here's a trick (and it is not mine, I'm not nearly that clever):

copy-paste this into your Terminal and run it every time VMware gives you some nonsense about having
to compile something-or-other, then doesn't and/or crashes:

sudo vmware-modconfig --console --install-all

It's a lifesaver.
