With a native scroller or touch messages... It is not possible to
make scrolling smooth like native scrolling views.
I've been out of the mobile loop for a while, but my last iOS app
scrolled smoothly when I set up acceleratedRendering and assigned the
layermode of the field to "scrolling". I had a native scroller over it,
but Colin may be right that it doesn't matter.
