Kay, that is a very neat trick. I played with it and it turns out you don't have to add the extra lines.
If you set the margins of the scrolling list field to 0,8,0,8 and the firstindent to 8 and the borderWidth to 1 you can set the backgroundcolor of one/multiple lines to what you want and have a colored background.
