I'm writing as a far more pedestrian user of LC than either Mark or Richard. I've had explicit variables enabled from the prefs for a long time as well. I actually find it comforting. It helps me catch typos all the time. My eyesight is not great, and I often miss an m instead of an n, or a ; instead of a :, or the like. Usually when dealing with code I didn't write, its because I'm trying to fix code that doesn't work properly. Often, the original coder would have been helped by explicit vars.
