Hi Doc, the server engine is perfectly capable to connect to the databases that are supported in the desktop engine. At least for postGres and mySQL I know for sure as I am using those two. :-)
What you can not do in most cases, is connect from a desktop app to some remote database, unless you govern the server yourself. This is for security reasons, so you need a "middleman" that broadcasts the data, which can be written in any language, liveCode server included.
