Not really, basically if you are poking around apple docs and you see there is a notification about something and you need it then you can use mergNotify to get it.
For example if you go here: https://developer.apple.com/library/ios/#documentation/UIKit/Reference/UIWindow_Class/UIWindowClassReference/UIWindowClassReference.html Scroll to the bottom you will see the notifications related to UIWindow.
