preOpenCard to openCard,
when, blow-me-down, the thing worked....
with your syntax Klaus:
on preOpenCard
set the backgroundPattern of this card to 1003
end preOpenCard
so everybody is happy and can go skipping off down the yellow brick road
(well, possibly).
