one can make one's own 'message box' while trying to get a handle on this...
create a new stack make a field to hold the command(s) - name it "command" make a button named 'execute' with this script on mouseup get field "command" do it end mouseup add a 'try' structure and error reporting and you have your own custom message box. Often I prefer to use my own, which has code formatting and coloring, and can execute Shell and Applescript commands too. This method doesn't seem to have the oddities of the 'real' message box.
