Thanks Bjornke. Jacques' idea wouyld work but I'd prefere a Livecode approach so I can alter it to deal with, e.g., different line heights and colors. I'm glad this came up because it's an opportunity for me to learn yet another area of Livecode - gradients - for which there is precious little published information.
