Just a few questions: 1) Are you using LiveCode property profiles to manage font changes between platforms, or are you changing the textFont/textSize/textStyle/textHeight of your buttons manually? 2) What is the style of the buttons? 3) Does it change anything if you set the lockLocation of the buttons to true? 4) Make sure that no code runs in the affected stack when it opens (like temporarily commenting out any code that would run) and then try to open it on Windows.
