Hi Todd, If your code might go out into the wild, I think the dgProps["control type"] property I mentioned might be slightly safer than using the dgcontrol property, just because it's highly unlikely anyone would have a dgProps custom property set outside of a datagrid whereas it's not inconceivable that might have dgcontrol property in the default custom keys property set.
