Wasn't it a guy named Steve that axed Hypercard?

yes, it was. However, when you can tell me one person who never made an error of
judgement in his/her life I'll allow that as a criticism of the chap.

Personally I think Jobs is a beast; or, put another way, he became a beast, probably because he had to to keep his business afloat and successful. Now if we want to condemn Jobs for being a beast we can, but we should also balance that with being a highly dynamic and creative leader. Whether one can be
a dynamic, creative leader without being something of a beast I doubt.

I hope Jobs does have a peaceful retirement, although I suspect what has kept him alive so long in his condition has been the high energy situation he has been in as boss of Apple, and once the pressure is off . . .

I hope that he will be able to spend some quality time with his loved ones
and friends.

I don't think that will happen. I watched a friend die of exactly what Jobs
has. Given how passionately Jobs loved Apple, I suspect he hung on as long as
he possibly could. If he's in the same shape as my friend was, I suspect he
has very little time left.

I hope I'm wrong.
