Hi, Livecode cowboys,
Yesterday, when I was working with LiveCode Server (I really love it and
use it to create scripts to manage Linux systems, websites, etc.), and I
was wondering:
What is the future of LiveCode Server, given that LiveCode Classic has a
planned end date? Will LiveCode Server continue to be developed?
1) What is the situation with LiveCode Server licenses? On the LiveCode
website, I can't find an option to purchase just a single LiveCode
Server license; the available options seem to bundle it with other
products ("all or nothing"). Is purchasing it standalone still possible?
2) How do LiveCode Server licenses work in practice?
If I create a website using LiveCode Server, do the users who access the
website also need to have a license?
If I stop paying for my LiveCode Server license subscription, will the
website stop working?
Personally, I believe LiveCode Server is perhaps the best tool LiveCode
has ever created. In my opinion, with a bit more marketing, LiveCode
Server could convince many Python users to switch to LiveCode. But this
is just my humble opinion.
Maybe those questions are for Heather.
Best,
Hery Torrado
