unfortunately LC uses the old Windows multimedia engine, not sure how this is called (DirectShow?). And that cannot play MP4 videos out of the box. Adding the new and current multimedia engine was promised for LC 10, but did not make it into the last version of LC. Maybe it is implemented in the new and upcoming LCC (LiveCode Create). So you are stuck with a small number of supported codecs like MPG 1, WMV and AVI, maybe more, I'm not sure... There is a free codec collection named "LAV Filters" which will let LC also play MP4 files and a lot of other audio and video formats.
