Pete, I gave up on comboboxes for a different reason--they don't have the unicodeText property, being half-buttons, half fields. I ended up emulating a combobox by putting two fields on the card--a one-line text input field, and below it, a list field. The list field is locked and initially hidden. When the user clicks in the input field, the list field is shown; when the user presses Enter in the input field, the list field is hidden again.
