Hugh, Very interesting! Are you sure you gave it a good try? I have to work it a bit to get it to crash. Usually trying different speeds of click-click-click-click without regard as to what I see on screen. Nonetheless, I think downloading/importing the images and setting the imageSource to their ID's is going to be the solution.
