Pete. Everyone...
The DG is in a substack of a mainstack splash screen. There is a field in that substack as well. A button loads a random number into each. Or tries to, anyway. The field gets a new number, the DG does not budge. The IDE stack works fine. The DG template is attached as a stackFile before I make the standalone. I am talking about saving between standalone sessions. If I change the data, close the standalone, and re-open, the new field data is there. Great. The DG never changed in the first place, so I may have mis-stated the problem. It may not be a matter of saving the DG at all. If I cannot change the DG data in the first place, who could say? This all started from a forum question about saving a DG. He could not. I tried a test, and I cannot even modify the DG contents. Did I mention that the field saves just fine? As other have pointed out, there is no way to save data between runs of a standalone without the usual workaround they mentioned. But I think datagrids have a "persistant Data" property that affects whether the data in them is saved when the stack they are in is closed and then re-opened in the same run. Not sure what's happening with your follow up email about the dg not being populated, that sounds very weird. The forum thread had evolved to having to save the > datagrid data in an external file, and reloading next session.
